Welcome to Drive To Survive

Alex Hristopoulos

Modifying, driving, racing, owning, admiring… and the list goes on. There are so many different areas when it comes to being a car enthusiast, but this love for a piece of metal with four wheels continuously brings us all together. Welcome to Drive to Survive, a place where car enthusiasts of any kind can come together and indulge in some car content, while raising awareness within the automotive community of the issues surrounding mental illness.

Don’t worry, this isn’t just another blog filled with new car reviews of the fanciest cars many of us likely will never get to own. This is for those of us who may not drive the fastest, latest, or most expensive car, but we don’t let that stop our passion for cars the culture. At Drive To Survive we appreciate everyone has their own unique style, and lets be honest, without that the car scene would be really boring. We are all about appreciating different builds, people, ideas, and everything that makes the car enthusiast lifestyle so special.

We will explore the car community, particularly within Adelaide, looking at some of the latest builds, discovering the incredible driving roads we are blessed to have sitting on our doorstep in the Adelaide Hills, and learning some DIY modifications that are budget friendly and can be done at home with your mates.

Drive To Survive is about going deeper as well, shining the spotlight on mental health issues within the community and providing an outlet for people to come together and speak up. Although the stigma around mental health is slowly decreasing, unfortunately it still remains and we want to change that, especially within the car community.

I hope that through telling the stories of individuals within the car community who have struggled with mental health and have spoken up, it will encourage others to speak up and make conversations about mental illness a more regular conversation. I have experienced firsthand just how strong the car community is, and through Drive To Survive I plan to showcase some of the incredible people, shops, groups, events and cars, that make the car community so special.

So, jump in for the cruise as we indulge deep into life as a car enthusiast in Adelaide, meet some awesome people, and check out some incredible cars, all while aiming to remove the stigma around conversations on mental health.

I’ll see you out on the road, at the next car meet, or on our Facebook and Instagram, soon. Keep driving, keep surviving.
